Cancer Research Survey: Expert Advisory Working Group

The CCRA Expert Advisory Working Group is comprised of volunteer members representing some of the member organizations of the CCRA. Its mandate is to assist the Manager of the Canadian Cancer Research Survey with needed expert advice and input to facilitate the conduct of the cancer research survey. Specifically, members of the Working Group provide advice to the Survey Manager on:

  • criteria for projects to include within the Canadian cancer research portfolio/database

  • appropriation criteria for site classification

  • feedback on analytical issues, analyses and reports

  • other issues requiring expert input

The CCRA Expert Advisory Working Group also has an adjudication function by determining the appropriateness of outlier projects for inclusion within the database on an as needed basis and final Common Scientific Outline (CSO) and site classification decisions where there are non-reconciled disagreements between classification coders. The CCRA Expert Advisory Working Group may call upon external advisors to assist in specific matters requiring scientific expertise not available within the Working Group.

The five current members of the CCRA Expert Advisory Working Group are:

  • Dr. Mario Chevrette, President, Cancer Research Society (CRS)

  • Dr. Jim Hudson, Consultant, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) Central Office

  • Dr. Nancy Kreiger, Director of Research, Preventive Oncology Research Unit, Cancer Care Ontario (CCO)

  • Dr. Benoît T. Lussier, Assistant Director, CIHR Institute of Cancer Research

  • Dr. Christine Williams, Director, Research Programs, Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute (CCSRI)
