Two Leading Cancer Researchers Appointed as Officers of the Order of Canada
The CCRA congratulates Drs. Anne-Marie Mes-Masson and John Bell, two distinguished cancer researchers and past CCRA awardees, for their appointments as Officers of the Order of Canada in late December 2025.
Anne-Marie Mes-Masson, PhD, FCAHS, FRSC, Associate Scientific Director of basic and translational research at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM), is recognized for her work in developing biobanks and significant scientific discoveries in ovarian and prostate cancer. A global leader in molecular oncology, her translational research has improved both precision health and therapeutic approaches.
John Bell, PhD, FRSC, FCAHS, a Senior Scientist at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, Scientific Director of BioCanRx, and member of the Centre for Cancer Therapeutics at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, is recognized as a renowned leader in the development of oncolytic virotherapy. His entrepreneurial efforts to build Canada’s capacity to discover, develop, test, and manufacture cell-based therapies have enabled Canadian leadership in immunotherapies.
